Caterpillar Inc. (Caterpillar) is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel, natural gas engines and industrial gas turbines. The collective agreement between locomotive maker Electro-Motive (owned by Caterpillar) and the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) in London ended January 1st. The year started with a lock out for CAW members. Catterpillar intends to cut workers’ salaries in half, eliminate pensions and cut other benefits.
The Ontario Federation of Labour has declared Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11am as a Day of Action to rally against Caterpillar and support CAW members in London. Why?…Because the livelihood of the middleclass is at stake! “Its an attack on decent paying Canadian jobs”. Please visit the Ontario Federation of Labour details.
